£500,000 Investment by Sheffield International Venues

As part of their five-year rolling replacement programme Sheffield International Venues (SIV) has taken delivery of a further £300,000 worth of golf course maintenance equipment supplied by local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, Palmers Groundcare.

This latest equipment from the Ipswich-based turf equipment manufacturer includes turf utility vehicles, fairway mowers, ride-on aerators, wide area semi-rough and rough mowers, and tees and surrounds mowers. A selection of machines were assembled at the Don Valley Stadium recently. (see attached photograph).

Over the past two years the total investment by SIV has topped £500,000. Along with management responsibility for sports and leisure facilities across Sheffield, SIV is also responsible for three golf courses which were formerly managed by the Council; Beauchief, Birley Wood and Tinsley Park.

In June SIV organise a US Masters-style competition, the Ashton Morton Slack Ultimate Sheffield Golf Open, which takes place over three days at the three golf clubs, attracting around 130 competitors. Ransomes Jacobsen is one of the sponsors of the event and has provided £1,000 for the awards that will be presented after the final at Beauchief Golf Club on 18th June.

Commenting at the recent photoshoot at Don Valley, Simon Leighton, SIV's grounds maintenance manager said,
"Since taking on the management of the golf courses we have generated additional income, which is being ploughed back to fund this replacement programme. Our priority has been to upgrade the courses and I'm sure that many of the golfing public across Sheffield have witnessed a significant improvement at all three clubs.

"We always strive to provide best value for the City and our relationship with Ransomes Jacobsen and their dealer, Palmers, has been prominent in achieving this. The sponsorship of the competition demonstrates their commitment to this partnership."
