Additional turf maintenance equipment for Normanton GC
Normanton Golf Club, the 18-hole 6,200 yard championship course located on the outskirts of Wakefield, has taken delivery of new turf maintenance equipment from Palmers Groundcare, the local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer based at Selby.
Head greenkeeper David Crompton supported by his Greens Committee has invested £120,000 over the past 2 years in new equipment. This latest tranche includes a Jacobsen Greens-King VI, a Tri-King tees and surrounds mower, a diesel powered Bunker Rake for maintaining the 68 bunkers, an E-Z-GO MPT utility vehicle, two Iseki tractors, 46hp and 25hp respectively and a Turfco Mete-R-Matic top dresser. There is also a fleet of 10 E-Z-Go electric golf cars.
Commenting on the latest round of purchasing David Crompton said "The major factor in our purchasing decision is the commitment of our local dealer, Palmers Groundcare. Their service and after sales support is exemplary and they will often loan us equipment, if required. The machinery is first rate and, I believe, is excellent value for money. We are currently evaluating the Jacobsen Fairway 305 and the vibes are positive."
The course was designed in 1992 by Patrick Dawson, the architect of some of the holes at Augusta National, and occupies some 145 acres of the Hatfeild Hall Estate; it opened in 1996 as Hatfeild Hall Golf Club and was purchased by Normanton Golf Club in 1998, when they sold their 9-hole course, 5 miles away, for redevelopment.
