This year STRI, the leading sportsturf consultancy in Scotland, have been heavily involved in the grow in and establishment of three major new golfing venues throughout Scotland including The Castle Course at St Andrews, The Renaissance Club at Archerfield and Castle Stuart at Inverness.
In football, STRI Sports Facility Construction and Agronomy departments have also been busy with reconstruction of the Ibrox Stadium pitch using the new Fibre-elastic rootzone. STRI are now at the forefront of research into pitch lighting systems and have developed a site specific artificial lighting deployment plan for the Ibrox pitch. In addition we have just begun visiting Celtic Park to deliver maintenance advice with a view to possible pitch development options in the future.
In July STRI were commissioned to undertake a full technical appraisal of the bowling greens at Kelvingrove, Glasgow. The in depth study appraised green construction, irrigation systems and playing quality standards. These greens are to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the outcome of the study will determine to what extent and how best to redevelop the greens to bring them up to World Class standards.
To find out more from STRI and discuss what the Scottish team can do to optimise the playing quality of your golf or sports facility, do come and visit us on our stand G12 at the show, from November 5-6th.
