From my experiences as a Head Groundsman at Northampton County Cricket Club using heavy tarpaulin covers on the square and run ups, practice areas/nets from March through to September, we always incurred problems with disease incidence, lack of photosynthesis through a lack of light and a general weakening of the grass plant.
