Like most of my compatriots I have found this spring to be very challenging, the cold, dry weather resulted in little or no real significant grass growth during March and April.

Currently there are a lot of building works going on as part of the development to the Centre Court. New administration offices are being built on land previously used for staff car parking. This has meant we have had to develop some new permanent car parking facilities on the grass areas outside. More Inside.

From our point of view the tournament was very successful, we didn’t get a single complaint from any player this year about any court-full article inside

After the tournament last year we decided to invest in a Koro machine, albeit a smaller version so that it would work snugly on our courts. We Koro'd off five of the courts to a depth of 6mm, which removed all of the visible vegetation

As we lead into the Championship I look to assistance from Mother Nature - she does a much better job than we can do. Really all I want is the sunshine.

Very little mowing has been done this week because the temperatures have remained quite cold and growth has been slow.We had left the grass longer in the cooler areas on some of our courts where the ends are in permanent shade through the winter

The official start of the season is the 19th May, so we have some time to go yet. We are on a countdown to the Members opening day, which is good for us because we have a target to get everything ready for this day.

Our work on preparing the courts for the playing season usually starts in earnest in March. The exact timing will depend on the weather conditions. It is vital that the court is not so wet and soft that the machinery will damage the surface. The following timetable is a description of our preparation at Wimbledon. As with all the procedures the timing is influenced by weather conditions.
