Finally, on Friday, October 11th in Bingley we got what I can only describe as wet stuff falling from the Sky. I was amazed, stunned, and, of course, relieved, yes, indeed, RAIN.

August has been an eventful month for Bradford & Bingley Groundsman Paul Markham, who has seen his ground under water twice as well as preparing a pitch for the Bradford League showpiece, the Priestley Cup final. Here is his latest report.

The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30 will long live in my memory. A total of 1,027 runs were scored at Wagon Lane in two days of Bradford League second team cricket and that has to be something to savour.

Cricket matches are in full swing on our square at Bradford and Bingley now.
It is peak season and there are lots of matches going on at different levels. These include all the junior matches, under 13’s, 15’s and 17’s and we have also let our local secondary school use the ground

Just over 12 months ago Bradford and & Bingley’s sports complex was under water following the worst flooding in the Aire Valley for some 30 years.
It was a frustrating time for the Bradford League’s only full-time professional groundsman, but Paul Markham came through this difficult spell and has enjoyed a much less eventful winter this time.
