BIGGA, until now only open to those working full time on golf courses, opened its full membersihip category to groundsmen who work on sporting facilities at a recent Extraordinary General Meeting.
The EGM called to vote on giving groundsmen full membership within BIGGA was carried. The 84% "Yes" vote is a ringing endorsement for the proposal and groundsmen are now eligible to join BIGGA and enjoy the same membership benefits as golf greenkeepers.
"This is a significant day in the history of the Association and I look forward to welcoming groundsmen into BIGGA and am sure that there will be a great deal of benefit to any groundsman who decides to join," said BIGGA Chief Executive, John Pemberton.
