Caldwell Golf Club upgrade turf maintenance equipment

By Peter Driver

Caldwell Golf Club near Uplawmoor in Renfrewshire has upgraded its turf maintenance fleet with the purchase of a Jacobsen LF-3800 light fairway mower from local dealer, Fairways GM.

The LF-3800's 44hp turbocharged diesel engine is ideal for the hilly conditions at Caldwell and the bespoke cab provides all-weather protection for the greenkeeping team. Other features on this machine include rear roller brushes, joystick reel lift and lower and FlashAttach reel mounting system.

Head Greenkeeper Paul McNair said, "We are very busy here and in the summer get many visiting parties. Presentation is vitally important and when the weather warms up we become a grass factory! That's why we've gone for the larger 7" cylinders; they can really get to grips with the grass. Although powerful, this machine has a very light footprint and the finish it leaves is superb."

Caldwell Golf Club was founded in 1903 and the 18-hole, par 71 parkland course measures 6335 yards from the competition tees. The club currently has 700 members including 75 juniors.
