The trend for commercial advertising on pitches is definitely growing if Leeds Rhinos are anything to go by. On a recent visit to see Jason and Ryan at the Headingley Carnegie Ground I could not help notice the sheer scale and size of the promotional adverts on the pitch.

The final preparations are now in place for the grand opening of Swansea’s new 20,000 all-seater Stadium at Morfa. The construction began in the autumn of 2003 with the stadium due to play host to its first fixture, a football match between Swansea and Fulham, on 23rd July.

18th Jul 2005 - Rugby - Editor
Although it's normally the players and coaches who grab all the headlines in Rugby League, the Rugby Football League (RFL) are determined to recognise the efforts of the men and women who work behind the scenes throughout the year maintaining the sport's playing surfaces.

I must have one of the most unique challenges facing a stadium Groundsman. I look after a 130 year old soil based pitch that has to provide well over 60 games, and training sessions, for both codes of rugby. There is no closed season for renovations and, for several days of the year, the pitch is used as a parking facility for 400 cars during Yorkshire county cricket matches. More Inside
