Phil Frost, the award winning Head Groundsman at Somerset CCC, has surprisingly been made redundant by the club. Phil, who was featured in last year's June/July issue of the Pitchcare magazine, won numerous awards during his time with Somerset. Taunton has long been regarded as the best batting pitch in England which is why, presumably, it has been the recipient of so many accolades.

Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club has recently taken delivery of a Ransomes Mastiff mower, after securing an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Machinery Grant. Supplied by Burrows GM of Leyland, their local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, the new machine replaces their original Mastiff, which is over 30 years old.
