We are coming up to a busy period in the grass court calendar with numerous tournaments and matches ahead. The workload is very intensive, our mowers are now out 5 days a week during the busy periods, not to mention the countless hours behind the marking machine.

Currently there are a lot of building works going on as part of the development to the Centre Court. New administration offices are being built on land previously used for staff car parking. This has meant we have had to develop some new permanent car parking facilities on the grass areas outside. More Inside.

Soil temperatures are now rising and now is an ideal time to overseed your courts.Sarrel rolling is advised before to break surface crust and produce an ideal tilth so any seed / topdressing will ameliorate into the surface. More Inside.

The frequency of cutting will be increasing due to the warmer temperatures. Start reducing now at 1mm increments per week until you reach the playing height of 8mm by May. Mowing should be at least twice a week in different directions to avoid nap formation and encourage tillering. More Inside.

Anthony Asquith has recently been promoted to Head Groundsman at Chapel Alleton. Taking over from his father (a role reversal). They have been working together ever since Anthony started as an apprentice at the club some seven years ago. Anthony has been very proactive continuing to increase is knowledge and education along the way. Culminating in Anthony recently completing is NVQ level three certificate in sports turf management.More Inside.
