Textron name change
General News - By Pitchcare (17 Oct 02 13:46)
'Textron, Golf, Turf & Specialty Products has changed its trading title to reflect the heritage inherent in its two major brands. Effective September 3, 2002, the Ipswich-based company has reverted to its registered trading name of Ransomes Jacobsen Limited.  Selina Flynn, Communications and Promotions Manager said, 'The decision was made to fall in with the strategy being undertaken by Textron Inc., Ransomes Jacobsen Limited's parent company, who are changing the trading style of their subsidiaries on a global basis. Textron Inc has many market leading brands in its family and has decided to promote these brands by using them as part of their companies' trading names, if they do not do so already. Textron's aircraft division has always promoted 'Cessna - A Textron Company' and this has proved to be one of the most profitable businesses under the Textron umbrella. Ransomes is world renowned as the inventor of the lawnmower and is certainly now a major name in the municipal sector. On the other side of the Atlantic and now here in the UK and Europe, Jacobsen is a byword for quality of cut for all golf course applications. Furthermore, the choice of name change is even more important now that it has been confirmed that the company will continue to manufacture most of the Ransomes products at Ipswich.' - Read Article
