Back in November we closed nine holes of the course to re-turf all the greens and do other redevelopment work to improve those nine holes with an anticipated opening date in mid April.
The winter has been very kind to us in terms of weather conditions with the temperatures being much higher than normal. The greens have responded very well and we have already been able to hollow core and top-dress them to finalise our levels. We our currently cutting these greens at 5mm.

Ilkley Tennis Club is one of the biggest in the north and head Groundsman Rod Wild is trying to ensure that all 14 grass courts are in prime condition ready for the target date for the start of the season on May 1st.
The highlight of the year at Ilkley is the open tournament, a week long British tour event from July 27th to August 3rd.

Paul Markham will complete ten years as Groundsman at Bradford & Bingley CC this year.
Paul, who is the only full-time Groundsman in the Bradford League, trained in horticulture at Shipley College, passing phases one and two.
His great strength is his experience and the fact that he plays for the club’s second team means he also knows the art of pitch preparation from the players’ point of view. - Read Article
