Chepstow Racecourse is to hold an annual horse race in memory of its former groundsman.
Robert Mottram died aged 50 after suffering from cancer.
Now the racecourse will honour its former employee, who started work there after he left school in July 1975, with a special horse race on May 31.
It will form an annual tribute to Mr Mottram, with the race's trophy to be presented to the winner by Robert's widow Jayne, and two children Daniel and Sophie.
A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to the St David's Foundation, while bucket collections will take place during the day.
General manager of Chepstow Racecourse Richard Holland said Mr Mottram was a huge loss for the racecourse and the racing industry as a whole.
He said: "The annual race will be a true tribute to all of Robert's tireless work and we hope to raise as much money as possible for the St David's Foundation, which is an extremely worthy cause."
Gates will open at 12.30pm, with a full programme of six races beginning at 2.30pm.
Grandstand and paddock tickets start at £18, with premier tickets starting at £23.
