Co Armagh contractor, William Mulholland, and his team of six at WM Landscapes, Loughgall, work for a mix of private clubs and local authorities. From the fine turf of bowling greens and golf courses, to the more harshly weathered rugby and gaelic football pitches, their clients are spread throughout Ireland.

WM Landscapes favours Wiedenmann equipment and has purchased three Terra Spike aerators in the last four years, as a PC3 bulk top dresser.

"You need to accommodate the client's wishes within the constraints of time and weather. Our clients expect us to be dependable and reliable so we expect the same from our machinery. We started out with a 1.6 wide Terra Spike XP6 in 2006. We then bought the wider version the XP8 at 2.1m in 2008 and another XP8 in summer 2009," says William Mulholland.

"The XP is a universal machine. Our operators find the depth and heave easy to adjust, it's all done tool-free. Set up is quick and the straight forward tine retention system makes changing tines painless. All tines and spare parts are inter-changeable. It's well engineered and leaves a consistent clean finish. It also copes admirably with the rigorous life of a contractor machine."

WM Landscapes also has a Pro-Cast bulk top dresser marketed by Wiedenmann. Their choice was the PC3 with a 2750 litre hopper and powerful twin spinners which can spread up to two tonnes of material per minute. "Its volume and output match our requirements and above all it's the right weight…not too heavy for fine turf and very stable on hilly ground."

Why Wiedenmann? "We get good back up from dealer Cyril Johnston's and fast spare parts. Any queries are dealt with quickly. They suit our needs very well," he concludes.
