Dalziel Park look to Fairways for Golf Course Maintenance Package
By Peter Driver
Dalziel Park Golf and Country Club has signed a five year contract hire agreement for course maintenance equipment with local dealer Fairways GM.
The equipment, from the Jacobsen brand, includes a Greens King VI triplex mower and Greens King 522A walk-behinds; a TriKing for tees and surrounds; LF3800 for the fairways and the articulated AR250 five deck rotary mower for semi-rough maintenance. Ancillary equipment includes a Cushman Turf-Truckster; an ST480 utility vehicle, a Turfco WideSpin1530 top dresser and an Iseki TK538 compact tractor.
Dalziel is an 18 hole, par 71 parkland course interspersed with extensive areas of woodland. Originally a 9 hole course it was extended to a full 18 in 2002. Stephen Briody has been Course Manager for the past 2½ years and is proud that the club has substantially increased its membership since he arrived in the job.
"The increase in members is due to two main reasons", he said. "Firstly, my team have worked hard to improve the condition of the course and secondly, the support of the directors who have invested a significant amount in upgrading the facilities here with a programme of renovation and modernisation.
"The quality of the equipment package from Fairways is a great benefit as it has given us the right machinery to do the job thoroughly. I've had previous experience with Jacobsen products and the quality of cut is what impresses me most. I really believe that it discourages disease."
