I recently sprayed the green to remove Clover and Parsley Piert, there were also a few patches of moss, not enough to warrant spraying the whole area, so I put some sulphate of Iron in a shaker container and hand treated the areas at about ¼ ounce per square yard.
Charity Match in aid of Cancer Research

On Friday 3rd May, a charity football match is taking place at the home of Northampton Town's, Sixfields Stadium. The match, in aid of Cancer Research, has been organised following the tragic death of 21 year old Ben Evans who died of Cancer. The Cobblers players and Kevan Broadhurst the manager will be in attendance at the event which includes an auction, disco and a late bar. All proceeds will go to the charity, so if you can get along to support the event or perhaps donate an auction item it would be appreciated. With our first Championship game starting on Wednesday, it is very much all hands to the pump, doing our final preparations to the pitch.
As with the start of any new season, we have had the usual problems with machines that have been over wintered and then don’t want to work when you pull them out of the shed in the spring.

The Spotland stadium plays host to both Rochdale Football Club and The Hornets Rugby League team, since May last year the pitch has seen in excess of sixty games and virtually no close season.
The rugby league season started in November and continues until September,

The design of the Reebok stadium is undoubtedly fascinating, but the problems that it creates for the ongoing management of the grass surface have been a learning curve for all of us.
The height of the television gantries in these new stadiums doesn’t help the cause of the Groundsman either.

This time last year Lancashire County Cricket Club Head Groundsman Pete Marron, was, like so many other Groundsmen, living a nightmare. This year with no real sign of rain for three weeks the omens are starting to look good for a long dry summer. Read Pete's comments inside the cricket section

Well this pre-season year has been completely different to the last one. After coming out of the wettest winter on record, the ground was so unfit that we lost the first fourteen days of cricket. I have not had to endure a season like the last in my professional career
