The ballroom at the famous Dorchester Hotel was transformed by a living grass carpet recently to set the scene for the first Betview Awards, organised by London event management company Added Dimension.
Lindum Turf, under contract to specialist event florists Lavender Green supplied and laid 1,000 sq metres of their patented Grassfelt (soil-less turf growing in a recycled textile felt base) hours before the event, which entertained 350 guests.
David Barnes, Director of Lavender Green said that the company had been approached to create a real feel for the 'Turf' and a day at the races. "They wanted a 'wow' factor on the night," he explained. "We've used Lindum Grassfelt several times and knew that it was the ideal choice to achieve this effect."
Lindum's MD Stephen Fell, remembering when his turf was laid on Trafalgar Square, says that grass has an amazing power to transform the look and feel of a venue. "The turfed ballroom looked fabulous," he said. "Because Grassfelt can be easily laid on almost any surface and rolled up once the event is over we are finding a growing demand for it at both indoor and outdoor venues."
