A former Tain man who has landed one of golf's most coveted posts this week admitted his only regret about securing the dream job was that his late father wasn't around to share the joy.

Gordon McKie, who started out as a teenage apprentice at Tain Golf Club after drifting into the job, has just been appointed head greenkeeper at the world famous Old Course in St Andrews.

The 39-year-old is now tasked with looking after golfing great Tiger Woods' favourite course and will be in charge when The Open
