College Pines Golf Club, set within the grounds of Worksop College and Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire has taken delivery of a fleet of E-Z-GO golf cars from local dealer Platts Harris Ltd. E-Z-GO is a subsidiary of Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT).

The new fleet of eight E-Z-GO petrol TXT buggies replaces six ageing golf cars previously leased in from Mox.

Commenting on the new fleet, PGA Professional and Director of Golf, Charles Snell said, "After leasing our original fleet it demonstrated that buggies were a viable option here at College Pines. They have proved very popular and when the course is busy they can go out as much as three times in a single day. That's the reason we went for the petrol version because with a course that's over 6800 yards, the management of the fleet is much easier with petrol buggies. We looked at the electric version, but had reservations as to whether they could cope with the demand.

"Previously we leased our buggies, but decided to purchase these E-Z-GOs outright reinvesting in the assets of the club to ensure a heightened golfing experience for our clients."

Situated on free-draining land, the 18-hole heathland course was purpose-designed to be open every day of the year by Charles Snell's father, David. It has large greens and tees and the sandy sub-soil enables buggies to be used all year round. David is a respected PGA professional with over 50 years experience and had always wanted to design and build his own course. When land became available at Worksop College he seized the opportunity and construction began in 1992. The course opened in March 1994 and now has over 500 members. It is proud to trade on its reputation as 'the home of all year round golf'.
