Desert Turfcare, E-Z-GO's distributor for Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE, has delivered a fleet of E-Z-GO golf cars and shuttle vehicles to the newly renovated Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, which re-opened last December.
The Abu Dhabi City Golf Club began life as the Abu Dhabi Golf & Equestrian Club in 1976. For 22 years it was an 18-hole sand course - 9 holes, but approached from two alternative tee positions - but in 1998, it was transformed into Abu Dhabi's first all grass course. Its nine holes were designed by the respected British golf course designer Ian Scott Taylor.
However, it is not just the course that has been upgraded. The club has purchased a fleet of 25 new E-Z-GO RXV golf cars, all with GPS, and three Six Shuttles for use by members and guests.
When asked about his preference for E-Z-GO, Rhian Lobo, Abu Dhabi City Golf Club's Manager said, "The RXV fleet was selected for many reasons such as the ease of maintenance, since not many parts are required, and my mechanic's familiarity with this reliable brand. Both the manufacturers' warranty and Desert Turfcare's warranty made it very convenient for us to decide on the EZGO RXV. The battery filling system is a pre-requisite on all cars and one full battery charge can give us up to three rounds of golf.
"Desert Turfcare's after sales service is excellent with regular weekly visits by their technicians to ensure that the vehicles are kept in the very best condition. We are 100% comfortable with the choice of EZGO RXV for our fleet knowing that Desert Turfcare team will be looking after our best interests".
The re-launch of the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club underlines its efforts to bring challenging but affordable golf to the UAE's growing golfing community. All nine holes have been improved with new fairways and greens. There are also more challenging tees, none more so than at the par three seventh. The green on the ninth hole has been moved to the edge of the water, thus creating a thrilling climax to the end of a round. Any shot finishing too short of the flag will almost certainly mean a watery end.
