Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council have purchased 9 x Eliet Major Chipper/Shredders for disposing of prunings from the town's extensive parks and tree stock. The shredders will be used by mobile maintenance units around the borough and the purchase from local dealer Bolton Abbey Mowers included multi-purpose shredding screens for use with green waste.
The Eliet Major is powered by a 9hp Honda GX270 engine and has a chipping capacity of 5.5 cm. Twenty reversible blades deliver 40,000 chops/minute and a safety screen keeps children and pets away from the working parts; also a steel shield with heavy-duty debris flap protects the operator from material kick back.
Belt drive absorbs sudden force of a sudden blockage and large easy-roll wheels ensure maximum manoeuvrability.
