Nottingham Forest are celebrating finishing 'top of the table' the Groundsman of the Year awards.

It was a case of third time lucky for Forest groundsman Ewan Hunter when he received news of landing the League One title.

He was nominated in the top three last season and the season before when he was looking after the pitch at Rushden and Diamonds prior to his move to the City Ground.

And an elated Ewan said: "We hoped this would be our year and thankfully it has worked out that way. We completely re-seeded the pitch last closed season and we've had a good year in terms of keeping it in tip-top condition. It gives us a lot of satisfaction to see it still looking so good now."

"It's been a team effort and the lads have taken a lot of pride in their work to keep the pitch up to standard. But you can never afford to sit back in this business. We've got a lot of work planned for the summer to make sure it's in equally good shape throughout next winter."

Ewan was shortlisted alongside the groundsmen at Bournemouth and Carlisle before emerging as the winner.

A presentation of the award is planned to take place at Forest's final League One game of the season against Crewe on Saturday 5th May.
