Further Ransomes Triple for Fergusons grounds maintenance fleet
By Peter Driver
Spencer Ambrose, managing director of Huntingdon based grounds maintenance and landscape contractor Fergusons, has added another Ransomes Highway triple mower to his fleet of turf maintenance equipment.
He now has three of the renowned Ransomes triples which are used on a variety of contracts throughout Cambridgeshire. Fergusons have contracts with the majority of parish councils in the Huntingdon area and also work for a number of housing associations where they provide complete site maintenance services including litter picking, grass cutting and all horticultural services.
The jewel in the company's crown is their significant contract with Cambridge Constabulary, which involves site maintenance services at all their facilities across the county.
Commenting early in the season from the picturesque village of Fenstanton, Spencer Ambrose said,
"We have been in business for just over six years and in that time have gradually built up contracts right across Cambridgeshire. We provide a complete grounds maintenance service and now have a staff of 10. Having the right equipment is priority and it must be the best we can afford within our budget. The Ransomes triples are excellent; they are robust, reliable and very productive, ideal for all our requirements, especially our school contracts and for the sports pitches that we maintain. Ernest Doe is our local dealer and their back-up support has been first class. We can't afford downtime and they pull out all the stops when required."
Although Fergusons is a relatively young company, Spencer Ambrose and his team have in excess of 120 years experience in landscaping and horticulture. Spencer began his career in 1983 as an apprentice with Cambridge City Council and obtained his diploma from The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. He founded Fergusons in January 1999.
