Golf Cars for Westhill Golf Club
By Peter Driver
George Bruce, the Director of Golf at Westhill Golf Club, situated in an elevated position 8 miles west of Aberdeen, has recently purchased two electric E-Z-GO golf cars from his local dealer Fairways GM.
The club, which boasts over 600 members, opened in 1977 and has proved a popular venue with local golfers and visitors from the rest of the UK and overseas. Its location with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, is one of the main reasons for the introduction of the golf cars.
"Fairways loaned us a buggy last year and we trialled it for a week", said George. "It proved very popular and was out every day. This convinced me that they could be a viable proposition and that's why I've taken these two on a contract hire basis with a full maintenance contract.
"I've got fixed costs so I can keep a keen eye on their profitability and absolutely no hassle with maintenance issues. They provide a further facility for the golfers, especially older members and visitors who can play the course, despite the undulations."
The golf cars are the E-Z-GO TXT models with the patented Precision Drive System, which has allowed George to specify the Steep Hill option tailoring the performance to the undulating conditions at the Club. The increasing cost of fuel, the storage issues relating to petrol and the noise generated by petrol engines were also factors taken into consideration.
E-Z-GO, a Textron Company, is based in Augusta, Georgia, and manufactures the No. 1 selling golf car in the world. Additionally, E-Z-GO is a leading provider of industrial, turf and utility vehicles across a variety of applications and industries.
Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) is a $10 billion multi-industry company operating in 33 countries with approximately 37,000 employees in continuing operations. The company leverages its global network of aircraft, industrial and finance businesses to provide customers with innovative solutions and services.
