Grab yourself a personalised industry number plate!

By Dave Saltman

Alongside all the usual enquiries that we get in the office everyday, it was a pleasant surprise to receive an e-mail from a car owner who is selling his number plate on E-Bay at the moment. With a carefully placed holding bolt, the plate reads PITCH.

At midday Friday 24th March there were 9 days left of the auction. He would prefer the plate to go to someone who has an interest in its subject. Here's the description:-

"This is a great opportunity to buy a FANTASTIC plate for your car!!!

It turns heads wherever it goes! The plate is P1TOH, however with a simple bolt through the O the plate reads PITCH perfectly! I have NEVER been stopped by the police with this plate as i think its easy to see what it should say, and the bolt used is a legal one!

It is the ultimate plate or gift for a FOOTY FAN, GOLFER, CRICKETER, MUSICIAN, SALES PROFESSIONAL, RUGBY FAN, OR EVEN FOOTBALLER!!!

I am GUTTED to be selling this plate - but I am getting a company car which i am not allowed to display this on!

Happy Bidding - This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this great number plate."

Unfortunately the car doesn't come with the number plate and we hope that the company car is worth it!

Fantastic!

How much does anybody think it is worth?

Look what I found at DVLA - follow the link below - bear in mind this sold in 1996 when number plates weren't a big thing!!

Plate issued in Birmingham last year - BO 55 MAN. Has anyone seen it or know who owns it (or does the DVLA still have it??).
It was expected to fetch more than K1 NGS - the most expensive plate sold.

just for interest factor, when i worked for Kestrel, Richard Veitch bought a couple of new Massey Ferguson 4245 Tractors, and Lister Wilders found him a plate to put on one of them, he never did but im not sure if he bought it on a retention certificate, the plate read " V 31 TCH" yep you got it "VEITCH" i said he should have put it on one of the trucks, and i was on the look out for K 357 REL....(KESTREL)...what other zany plates can you think of appropriate for our trade..but they got to be feasable if they were available...ie Lister Wilder own K13OTA (KUBOTA) and TH Whites own M3WER (MOWER)....cheers...Ticky

At one job I had, we had number plates for our Mastiff because we took it accross a road.

All the ride on machinery that we have have number plates as they have to be registered to cross a main road to some of our playing fields.
It is but a 30 metre stretch of road but without registering each machine, we are uninsured in the event of an accident on the road.
Three tractors, two ride on mowers and a Gator.
