Greenkeepers, turf managers, students and agronomists now have the chance to win an iPod Touch, by simply trying the new GreenCast Mobile website and completing a short questionnaire to submit their feedback on the site.
The GreenCast Mobile initiative, which is currently in a pilot phase, is looking to make some of the valuable information from the website - www.greencast.co.uk - more accessible and easier to use as part of everyday turf management activities. The service is designed to work with iPhone, Blackberry and web-enabled smart phones.
To take part in the project, they can log on to the GreenCast website and enter their mobile phone number on a designated webpage. An automated text message will be sent direct to the phone, giving a one-click link to the mobile website.
Syngenta GreenCast Project Manager, Karen Roberts, highlights services already available on the mobile website include a popular quick reference five-day weather summary, detailed illustrated local weather information and disease identification guides, along with links for the products that provide a solution and advice on how best to use them.
More recently the site has added Weather Radar Information, so users can track weather fronts moving across the country and foresee potential issues. "Used in conjunction with the unique Syngenta Spray Windows Forecast, greenkeepers and turf managers can plan spraying opportunities and programme work schedules," she adds.
Further feedback from turf managers and agronomists will be important in developing the most relevant and user friendly mobile site available. "When you have had a chance to view the pages and services available, let us know what you think by completing a short online survey," requests Ms Roberts. "All participants will be entered into the free prize draw with the chance to win an iPod Touch."
The survey can be accessed direct at: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22B7WGL6VSA Comments on the mobile service can also be posted on a GreenCast website forum.
Syngenta GreenCast is available free to all greenkeepers, turf managers, agronomists and students, providing a wealth of information on turf management and practical tools to help with more accurate spray timing and application.
