Pitchcare member Liz O'Connor of Greenscapes Lawn Care Services is keen to live up to the Adidas slogan "Impossible is Nothing" when she takes part in her first ever marathon in Dublin on 29th October.

Apart from running a successful business based in West Sussex, Liz, 23, is a hardworking single mum to five year old son Liam and is currently is the final year of a Theology degree at the University of Chichester, but with race day looming, she's devoting every spare minute to training.

"Now that Liam's back at school and the holiday period is over, I can fit in three sessions a week at the gym as well as a long run at the weekend to gradually build up the miles" she said.

Formally a student at St Philip Howard Catholic High School in Barnham, Liz was not known for a love of PE, but as an adult she wants to set a good example to her son.

"PE wasn't exactly my favourite subject, but Liam seems to enjoy it - he did rather well in his first sports day at the end of last term, coming first in his races."

Liz has chosen to run on behalf of Shelter, a charity set up in 1966 to prevent bad housing and homelessness from ruining peoples lives.

"Shelter has been very helpful to me and my family when we required their assistance; I see this as my chance to do something for them in return."

To sponsor Liz in her first marathon, please visit: www.justgiving.com/lizoconnor where you can donate using a debit or credit card. For details of where to send cheque payments to you can email Greenscapes at greenscapes@amserve.com.
