Cutbacks, staff redundancies, members melting away steadily or finding ways to reduce their subscription costs; this is the ongoing trend in golf clubs nationwide.
Each week I hear more club officials or golfers discussing the downturn in these terms, and yet, the bottom has not been reached.
By the time AGMs are held over the next few months, members will start hearing from their club committees about the harsh financial facts of golfing life in post-Celtic Tiger Ireland.
