Jacobsen Eclipse pedestrian greens mowers, supplied by Ransomes Jacobsen's Dutch distributor - Van der Pols - will be used at the KLM Open, which is being held at the Kennemer Golf and Country Club in Zandvoort, Netherlands from 23rd August until 26th August.
The Eclipse mower, with its industry leading floating head, is the very latest pedestrian greens mower from Ransomes Jacobsen and uses electric motors for traction and mowing. Power is supplied from a 48 volt drop-in battery pack or, as in the case with the Kennemer machines, by a 48 volt genset powered by a 4.6hp Honda petrol engine. The combination of separate electric drive for traction and mowing allows the frequency of clip (FOC) to be adjusted to the greenkeeper's exact requirements.
Among the 150 participants at this annual European Tour golf tournament are defending champion Darren Clarke, Robert Karlsson, Johan Edfors and Soren Kjeldsen.
Dick Vastenhouw, Head Greenkeeper at the Kennemer Golf and Country Club commented, "We were very impressed with the demonstration of the Eclipse 122F here at the Kennemer. The fully floating greens cutting cylinder is impressive and ensures that the greens are cut to perfection. We have set the machine to a FOC of 3.3mm, which means we are getting 300 cuts per meter.
This is 25% more than our former walking greens mower and translates to increased ball speeds on the greens. The turf groomer, which runs through the front roller, enhances the quality of cut and also helps to keep the roller clean during early morning mowing."
