Two curvaceous residential towers are part of the new Bézier development by Tudor Vale Properties on the South East corner of Old Street roundabout which also includes a new sports pitch completed by Agripower Contractors.

One block will be 14 storeys high, the other 16, and both will be shaped like giant pine cones. Between them they will contain 155 homes, as well as shops on the ground floor.

The towers back on to the Central Foundation Boys' School, a trust-funded secondary school. In a deal with the developer, the school sold the land in return for the building of a new sports pitch with a retractable roof which has been recently completed.

The playing surface chosen was a 3 G synthetic surface compliant to both FIH and FIFA 1 * standards.

This proved to be a very challenging project due to its central London location adjacent to Old Street in the heart of the city. "The pitch was on the second floor of a building and had to be accessed through a hole in the wall with all materials craned in," commented Trevor Gordon, Agripower Contractors Contracts Manager. "In all, over 130 tons in total was craned in which also included all the plant and equipment used."

So impressed that Tudor Vale Properties were with the work carried out by Agripower that the company will look no further than the natural and artificial sports grounds specialists when something similar comes up in the future. "Agripower and their Staff were a delight to work with," commented a Tudor Vale Spokesman. "Their attitude and can do mentality along with quality of workmanship was second to none and we'd have no hesitation in working with them again."
