Brine ATV Winter SnowSpraying brine is becoming an increasingly popular method of snow and ice control and what better vehicle to use for this purpose than an ATV. The Wessex brine sprayer is Ideal for sidewalks, pedestrian walkways and other areas with restricted vehicular access i.e. Storage of material, Pedestrian shopping areas.

Spraying brine has many advantages over the spreading of granular salt i.e. cleanliness of operation, it is effective quickly as salt needs to attract moisture before it will start the melting process, and particularly in retail shopping areas, brine will not get carried by foot into shops like salt. Some liquid ice-melt products work at far lower temperature than salt and will also cover in excess of twice the area of an equivalent amount of salt.

The Wessex ATV brine sprayer is based on the popular WS618P sprayer, but has a special 1.5 meter boom featuring 3 clusters of 3 different nozzles for varying applications.

The 55 litre tank will hold enough brine to cover 1250 square meters or 1.25 meter width over a 1 kilometre distance. Over this area, only a fraction of the amount of salt will be used in caparison to a conventional solid salt spreader.

The different nozzles are changed just by merely rotating one third of a turn. The pencil jet nozzle gives a high pressure jet of brine which is for treating compacted ice. This jet will penetrate the surface of the ice which will speed up the melting process. We then have the fan nozzle which gives a fine even spray over the area and is ideal for applications in light snow and frosty conditions, and the five jet nozzle is for pre-treating.

When the frost or the snow comes, the brine is already on the ground and even if the water has evaporated there is still a salt presence which will reduce the ice factor. If an area has been pre-treated before a heavy fall of snow, the snow ploughing operation is far cleaner as the surface of the ground will not be frozen.

The Wessex ATV brine sprayer also comes with a hand lance as standard, this is ideal for treatment of areas inaccessible to the ATV i.e. narrow paths, steps and doorways etc.
