Lord's has replaced Cardiff as the venue for one of the Test matches between England and West Indies next year
The decision was taken by the ECB Management Board after Glamorgan County Cricket Club advised the ECB that it would be late in making its payment of the staging fee for hosting the recent England v Sri Lanka npower Test Match in Cardiff. ? ?
The county is believed to have suffered a loss of around £1.5m after the first Test was heavily affected by rain.
MCC chief executive Keith Bradshaw said: 'Lord's had made a successful bid to host one of the three scheduled Tests'.
'I am personally delighted by this decision, which will be welcomed by members of MCC, other cricket followers and, I am sure, the cricketers themselves'.
'While the club supports all formats of the game, it is Test cricket that remains the pinnacle of our sport'.
The dates for next summer's Lord's Test match against West Indies will not be announced until the ECB has finalised the international match schedule for 2012 in its entirety.
West Indies are scheduled to visit England in May and June next summer for a three-match Test series followed by three NatWest Series one-day internationals and a NatWest International T20.
It now means that Lord's will host two England Test matches in 2012, with South Africa scheduled to play the hosts at Marylebone Cricket Club when they tour in July to September for a three match series.
