Massey Ferguson's appointed dealer for the Orkney and Shetland Islands, Linklater Engineering, has secured a valuable order for the supply of grounds care equipment to Orkney Islands Council.
The machines supplied to the council comprise six MF 48-25 RD cut-and-collect ride-on mowers, an MF GC2300 sub-compact tractor with mid mower deck and rear collector, an MF 1540 Dyna QPS compact tractor with cab and an MF 20 MD four-wheel drive utility vehicle.
The principal tasks for which the mowing equipment will be used is maintaining a variety of grass areas within school grounds and cemeteries. Supplied with a trailer, the MF 1540 tractor will be employed both on mowing duties and the movement of loads too large or too bulky for the tipping cargo box of the MF 20 MD utility vehicle. An important task for which the highly manoeuvrable MF 20 MD will be used is transporting staff, hand tools and materials to assist with the upkeep of the many paths and tracks found on the Orkney Islands.
Established by Sandy Linklater in 1991 as a mobile servicing facility for Orkney farmers, Linklater Engineering has grown steadily over the past 18 years, operating today from purpose-built sales, service and parts premises located at Stenness on the West Mainland of Orkney. In 1994, the company was appointed as a Massey Ferguson dealer covering the Orkney, Shetland and Caithness areas.
