More grounds care equipment for Peterborough City Council

Peterborough City Council has added further equipment, worth almost £300,000, to its grounds maintenance fleet for the coming season. Purchased from local dealer Ernest Doe and Sons, the new equipment includes four Ransomes Highway and Parkway triple mowers, a set of TG4650 trailed gangs and two New Holland TL100A tractors.
Andy Turner, the City's Grounds Maintenance Manager who has been with the Council for 35 years and specified the new equipment as part of a five-year rolling replacement programme said,
"We are responsible for around 80% of the grounds care operations under the City's remit. This encompasses 25 schools, the properties and grounds of Crosskey Homes, our local housing association, various sports pitches, public parks and roadside verges. In fact, just a single cut across the City involves a total of 6 million m².
"As part of the replacement programme we purchased 12 new triples and two sets of trailed gangs last year and this latest consignment brings the total number of Ransomes triples on our fleet to 22. We specify the Magna cutting units on all these machines because they are probably the best cylinder available. We are at the vagaries of the weather and the Magna unit performs especially well in the wet and on longer grass. Finally, the service and after sales support from Does has been one of the reasons why we have been using Ransomes trailed gangs for at least the last 34 years."
