Well this has taken a time to come out.

It was known up here BEFORE the time of this postponement that Motherwell had problems with their heating system.

It is alledged that earlier in the year a contractor was brought in to Vertidrain the pitch whereby they punctured the heating pipes.

Following the postponement both the club's General Manager and their Manager appeared at separate times in front of the television cameras stating that the system was operational and that they had taken every step to get the game on including the purchasing of frost protection covers.

Yes...the heating boiler was working but part of the undersoil piping had no water in it!

Undersoil Cheating?.....perhaps an apt headline.

if the allegation of the contractor piercing the pipework with a "vertidrain" is true, why was it not repaired straight away...when i worked for a leading contractor in my area, i was sent to Stamford Bridge (my beloved Chelsea) to vertidrain, and i pierced the pipework, Jason (Griffin, HG) and myself repaired it in about 15 minutes...so what was up with this not being done at Motherwell...?????

I asked the same question.

It is alledged that the contractor, having realised the damage caused, mentioned the error to the club only to be told that the pitch was going to be lifted during the Summer whereby a repair could be effected.

My information is that the pitch wasn't relaid as had been originally indicated to the contractor.

I know no boundaries.

I think that in other articles about Motherwell's pitch, the fact that they said they relaid the pitch for £40,000 says it all, unless they did it with B&Q turf that was about to be thrown away!

Wouldnt surprise me now if they tried to sue the contractor!

It was quite obvious it didnt work anyway, as they were shown on tv training on the stadium pitch under an inflatable dome, which wouldnt have been needed if the heating worked and probably cost more to hire than the suspended fine as well.
