Powfoot Golf Club, the 18-hole golf club situated on land close to the Solway Firth, has taken delivery of new turf maintenance equipment from local Ransomes Jacobsen dealer, Rickerby Limited of Carlisle. Ransomes Jacobsen is a Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT) company.
Neil Hamilton has been with the club for 10 years, the last nine as head greenkeeper. He runs a fleet that is predominantly orange and which includes two ageing Cushman Turf-Trucksters, 10 and 15 years old respectively.
"The Turf-Truckster is the perfect utility vehicle for us here at Powfoot," he said. "They are reliable, have an excellent carrying capacity and can be used for so many tasks around the course. It was time to replace our oldest machine, which has given us sterling service over the years, and Rickerby's demonstrated the latest model with the recently upgraded engine. We have many accessories for the other two, so the decision was simple and the order placed almost immediately."
Last season the club purchased a second LF3800 light fairway mower, another Jacobsen machine supplied by Rickerby's Carlisle depot.
"Our original LF3800 has been ultra-reliable with a superb quality of cut. It leaves a great finish and the rear roller brushes allow us to get out early in heavy dew and rain, something we get a lot of here! Any clippings that attached to the rollers are dispersed without clumping and providing a very pleasing visual presentation," Neil Hamilton added.
