As climate changes lead to extremes of weather and even more unpredictable rain patterns for turf professionals to combat, Dennis introduces an innovative solution with the new mini BLOTTER.

Dennis has acquired worldwide manufacturing rights for the UK designed machine, which is essentially a motorised roller coated with a highly absorbent sponge material. The drum is an impressive 1m (39in) wide and it can remove an astonishing 3500 litres (770 gallons) of water per hour.

The mini BLOTTER is ideal for the effortless removal of surface water from football pitches, cricket grounds, sports stadia, golf courses and racecourses. It is equally at home on artificial turf, athletics tracks, tennis courts and hard surfaces like car parks. Its speedy results mean that facilities can be kept open after unexpected downpours, avoiding fixture cancellation.

The machine's light footprint means it exerts a ground pressure of only 4psi, avoiding the risk of compacting soft ground. This also enables the machine to be used over groundsheets and on fine turf surfaces like golf greens and bowling greens.

As with most other machines in the Dennis line-up, power comes from a Honda petrol engine, a brand with a proven reputation for performance and reliability. Operation is straightforward, via simple controls for forward and reverse travel.

The drum is made from stainless steel, which is rust free, avoiding corrosion from fertilisers and other substances that might be present in the water removed from the affected surface.

A further plus-point is that the absorbent drum can be replaced by a conventional roller in an operation that takes no more than 15 minutes. This extends the versatility of the machine for greater efficiency, and it is ideal for rolling cricket wickets and other sports turf surfaces.

Dennis Managing Director Ian Howard says, "the new mini BLOTTER is an excellent addition to our growing range of professional products. It gives our customers the all-important ability to quickly remove standing water from natural and artificial turf surfaces, preventing rot, consolidation and disease." Ian believes that, "with climate changes and more frequent storms and downpours BLOTTING will become an essential task for many in the groundcare industry."
