SIS (Support in Sport) UK Ltd has appointed a Sales and Marketing Director for the rapidly growing artificial turf supply and installation operation within its business.

Geraldine Smith brings a wealth of specialist experience to the newly created role having worked as a sales and marketing person within the Sports Construction industry for a number of years, focusing on the synthetic turf market sector.

Other work experience includes 15 years within the construction industry with businesses operating in plastics and heating & ventilation.

"Overall, this has given me extensive experience with a diversity of clients, ranging from local authorities and schools, to architects, consultants and contractors," says Geraldine, " thus enabling me to have gained a wealth of experience and understanding of their particular requirements."

SIS manufacture an impressive range of specialist artificial turf products at its recently refurbished plant in Maryport, Cumbria. However, the company is unique in that it does not just manufacture the synthetic surfaces, but also offers a complete turnkey installation service as well. SIS use specially trained experts to construct pitches ranging from full size football, rugby and hockey pitches through to five a side centres and multi use games areas.

"We can therefore control quality throughout every single aspect of a project, from the initial enquiry to the final installation," says George Mullan, Chief Executive Officer of SIS. "All our contractors are SIS employees with vast technical knowledge, ensuring quality and efficiency at all stages."

Geraldine Smith has three grown-up sons and lives in Solihull. Not surprisingly, for someone working in the sports industry, visits to the gymnasium are amongst her leisure activities, as well as travelling, reading and aromatherapy.
