104 8417As sure as day follows night, winter follows summer and it's never too early to think about winter maintenance. The new Snowex SL-80 pedestrian brine sprayer made the heads turn on Broadwood International's stand at the recent Saltex show, and it is not surprising as liquid de-icing has many advantages over traditional salt spreading and is becoming extremely popular in the UK.

Storage of product, cleanliness of operation, the fact that liquid does not get carried by foot into shops and houses etc, are but a few of the advantages, and more importantly still, some liquid de-icing products will treat 3 times the area of a traditional rock salt spreader with an equivalent amount of material making transportation to site a lot more economical, and some ice-melt is even non-corrosive!

The SL 80 is the perfect way to combat anything the winter can throw at it while being safe and easy to use. It has a generous 50 litre capacity tank, and sprays an impressive width of up to 1.7m from the fixed spray nozzle, and the hand lance allows easy treating of doorways, entrance steps, and other inaccessible areas. Powered by a 12v battery, the SL-80 will happily spray 6 tanks of ice-melt before needing to be re-charged with the charger provided, and requires very low maintenance.

The SL 80 comes with a powder-coated frame, with a stainless steel option if required. This option together with the no-rust, polyethylene tank makes it virtually bullet proof from corrosion. Both these machines are perfect for use on pedestrian walkways, footpaths, shopping precincts and many other similar areas inaccessible with a vehicle mounted spreader or sprayer.
