As part of the Council's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, North Ayrshire Council has purchased two Hayter LT324G liquid petroleum gas mowers. The new machines, supplied and supported by Thistle Groundcare Equipment are already showing significant improvement in fuel efficiency.
The LT324Gs are working in high amenity open spaces, one of them in Largs and the other on the Isle of Arran.
Gordon Clark, operations manager grounds maintenance at North Ayrshire Council, said "The Hayter LT324 mowers we have replaced gave excellent performance over their lifetime and the new gas mowers seem set to do the same.
The fuel costs less and the range is greater so even before we do our analysis at the end of the season we know that our fuel efficiency is better. The new mowers have an extra 9hp and so our speeds have increased, too. Equally important, of course, is the reduction in our carbon footprint."
For details of the LT324G, together with information on the full Hayter range, log onto www.hayter.co.uk or call 0800 781 7155.
