Leading synthetic surfacing designer, Notts Sport, has taken the Contract (Design & Management) co-ordination of its sports projects in-house, making this role free of charge to its clients.
Under current regulations, contracts lasting more than 30 days, such as the construction of synthetic sports pitches, require notification to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and must be built and managed in accordance with the CDM regulations.
Until now, Notts Sport's customers have used external companies to carry out this role, at an extra cost.
But by investing in training, Head of Multi Sport Duncan Bennett is now formally qualified as a Contract Design and Management Co-ordinator (CDM-C) under the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
Duncan, who combines the qualification with his associated experience in project-managing sport and play facilities over an eight-year period, explains: "The NEBOSH qualification means I can carry out the CDM-C role when contracts and customers require them during the development of a new facility.
"By bringing this important aspect of a project in-house, schools, local authorities and private clients can benefit from paying no additional fee on Notts Sports schemes - and it cuts out the time and hassle of arranging for an external CDM-C, which can be at a significant cost to customers.
"We have, as a result, added yet more value to the Notts Sports service, and by doing this the package we provide for our customers just got even better!"
Notts Sport's facilities can be designed to deliver recognised playing performance for individual sports such as soccer, hockey and tennis, or to meet the standards for a combination of sports and activities within a single, multi-use games area, specifically designed to each individual customer's requirement and budget.
In addition to now being able to complete CDM-C role, Notts Sport offers a no upfront fee full development and design service to take customers from the earliest stages of their scheme right through to completion and aftercare.
This commitment to existing and future customers is reflected through Notts Sport's offer of free condition checks for current synthetic sports pitches, providing a professional evaluation, plus advice on future maintenance, refurbishment or upgrade options.
