DSC00701With the 'Great British Summer' in full swing, the last thing on most people's minds will be frost - however, canny groundsmen are already planning ahead for the 2011/2012 winter sports season. And, with two long, hard winters behind us, it's easy to see why; pitches with insufficient protection often result in the loss of fixtures (and, in turn, revenue) due to frost as well as enduring long-term damage to the playing surface itself.

By thinking ahead you can ensure you have your frost protection system delivered and ready to roll out at the first threat of frost. David Bates, MD of total-play Ltd which developed Climate Cover 'Total Growth Cover (TGC)', the revolutionary all-in-one germination and ground frost protection system, explains:

"It may seem early in to be thinking about frost protection, but we'll be round to winter sports season before you know it. By placing your order now you can ensure that you are fully prepared whatever the coming winter throws at us, with your system delivered in advance of any potential frosts.

"This year, we're also offering a special 'hire' service whereby clubs can hire a TGC on an ad-hoc basis should any of their big fixtures look at risk due to inclement weather and, in addition to full pitch covers, will be offering small covers for goal mouths or shaded areas if more appropriate."

Clubs placing summer orders will be in good company - among others, Fulham FC has ordered an additional full pitch TGC with inflation tube for its academy pitch, having used its original system for the past 2 years.

Designed specifically to allow the pitch to breathe, TGC actively enhances seed germination whilst it protects from frost. Not only will you have a pitch that's ready for play in frosty conditions, with multi-layer configurations offering play-ready surfaces down to -6°c, but will also have a healthier, well grown pitch that's better able to withstand the rigours of the game and finish the season in good shape.

TGC has also been designed to be easy to handle even in the coldest conditions and, when used in conjunction with and inflation tube, even large covers can be deployed by one person. Suitable for football, hockey, rugby and cricket pitches, race courses and tennis courts, TGC is in regular use by clients that include premier league football grounds, National Hunt race courses and the Lawn Tennis Association.
