Orwell Mencap Genesis has produced a selection of wooden safety tools for RANSOMES JACOBSEN, the international grounds care equipment manufacturer based at Ransomes Europark in Ipswich.
Genesis Garden Furniture, part of the Orwell Mencap Genesis organisation, is already well known in the Ipswich area as a producer of hardwood garden furniture of the highest quality, supplying Ipswich Borough Council with numerous benches and other park furniture. They also supply high profile individuals such as Griff Rhys-Jones and Richard Curtis, both local celebrities.
Damien Ribbans, Business Development Manager for Genesis said, "Work such as this is vital for us, as it provides the varied workload that we need to develop our workforce. Our people are always more than happy to demonstrate what they can achieve, as well as learning new skills along the way."
"However, they are more than happy to produce bespoke items to customers' exacting requirements. For Ransomes Jacobsen they have produced sets of safety tools, effectively hardwood paddles in the shape of small cricket bats, which are used by the company's Cutting Edge Training team to safely rotate the large cutting units of their commercial mowers during technical training sessions."
Ian Mitchell, Sales and Product Trainer with the Cutting Edge Training team at Ransomes Jacobsen commented, "We are near neighbours of Orwell Mencap Genesis and felt they would be the perfect business partner for the production of these safety tools. Health and safety is a major consideration right across our company, so these paddles play a vitally important role when we are turning heavy cylinders with extremely sharp blades in training situations. Our involvement with this superb charitable organisation demonstrates that we are a socially responsible company, but above all they have done a very professional job."
Chris Hawes, Workshop Manager at Genesis Garden Furniture added, "We were delighted when we were approached by Ransomes Jacobsen to provide this safety equipment. It provides yet another opportunity for the team here to gain work experience, add further life skills and is a valuable grounding for those able to move on into paid employment."
