Plumpton College Open Day 2007
Plumpton College held its Open Day on Saturday 12 May attracting over 10,000 visitors. This annual event is held in conjunction with the Sussex Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs. The purpose of the day is for the College to show the wide range of activities and courses provided. Students work very hard at the event and displays included parades of farm animals, tractor driving tours, dog shows, floristry, agricultural machinery, blacksmithing and metalsmithing, countryside, wine, forestry, sports, equine and horticulture. For the first time this year, a display by local food and drink producers was staged. A craft area showed a wide range of rural life with exhibitors showing stained glass, pottery, wood skills and floral art demonstrations. The Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) marquee was filled with children carrying out a variety of children's activities including willow weaving, face painting and corn dolly making. In all, a wonderful day ... and the rain held off!
