A police investigation is underway after vandals churned up a Guernsey football pitch with a quad bike.

The incident at Corbet Field, the home of Vale Recreation, happened sometime between 2100 and 2200 GMT on Sunday.

Groundstaff at the club are attempting to repair the damage ahead of Guernsey's National League System Cup semi-final against Dorset on Saturday.

Groundsman Dave Le Noury said it was very disappointing, but he felt 90% certain the game would go ahead.

He said: "You do it for the club... just because some idiot wants to spoil things doesn't mean we'll let them."
