Magazine - Primo Maxx seminar gets Turf Proffesionals talking

The research, development and numerous uses of Primo MAXX plant growth regulator was the focus of a one-day training seminar held by Scotts, Syngenta and spraying contractor LanGuard. The event, held at Syngenta's premises in Cambridge, was attended by 30 turf professionals from sport, golf, local authority and landscaping.

Richard Walton, from Scotts, explains. "Primo MAXX is a revolutionary product, and this event enabled us to bring together a wide cross section of turf professionals to share the many ways in which Primo MAXX can effectively regulate grass growth and make turf stronger and healthier. It was also a chance to exchange ideas, get feedback and generally communicate better with our current and prospective customers.

"The delegates heard a number of fascinating presentations, such as that from Mark Dempsey, from Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council," Richard continued. "Mark has used Primo MAXX in trials to slow grass growth in meadows to improve wild flower numbers, and on roadside verges to reduce the need for mowing and improve safety. The applications of the product really are limitless."

One of the delegates was Ipswich Town Football Club head groundsman Alan Ferguson. He commented: "It was a fascinating day and very useful to learn more about how Primo MAXX can be effective in so many different environments. For me, it underlined how Primo MAXX can make turf stronger and healthier by increasing both root and lateral shoot growth. It also enables turf to better survive stressful conditions, and with last year's hot spell we really saw our pitch at Ipswich stressed to the limit. The product can also reduce cuttings by up to 50 per cent, which is a huge benefit."
