Super punter Steph McCabe won £777,377 from a £2 bet yesterday - then gave away more than £500,000.

Lucky Steph had already netted a share of £1.4million in the televised Scoop6 bet last week and he and seven others who split the mega-payout agreed to pool this week's winnings.

So when 12-1 shot Swilly Ferry won at Newmarket yesterday he landed a massive £617,329 bonus - and handed over £540,000 to his new pals.

But delighted Steph, 50 - a £28,000-a-year greenkeeper at Glasgow's Littlehill Golf Club - still pocketed a cool £237,212 for his £2 stake.

Yesterday Channel 4 viewers saw Steph sit alongside presenter Derek Thompson at Haydock Park and watch on TV as his selection romped home in the 3.55 at Newmarket.

Steph, a guest of Totesport along with his partner Mary Ross, said: "It was absolutely brilliant - totally unbelievable."
