An interesting story that just adds to the discussion on just who made the UEFA decision to endorse the use of artificical surfaces at the highest levels of the sport.

Leaving aside any lengthy discussion regarding television income when a match is postponed due to inclement weather, it must be asked just how independent evaluation of the various artificial surfaces was attained ?

As an analogy, it is like asking Monsanto their opinion of 'Roundup' or 'Astroturf', then taking that information as the being an independent evaluation of total vegetative destruction or the acceptability of artificial surfaces.

So they don't feel left out.... a similar company maybe Polygrass.

As an aside to this discussion, there is to be a Rugby League match in the U.S. between Australia and the U.S. in the next few days. It is one of the first such games to be played on the new articical surfaces.

The outcome may be of some interest, and not necessarily the game result, more of how the players found performing on the surface.

Boumsong's comments would have been more relevant had he actually played on the pitch before making them.
