The University of Northumbria has purchased new turf maintenance equipment from local RANSOMES JACOBSEN dealer Rickerby Ltd of Hexham, for its Bullocksteads Sports Ground at Kenton Bank Foot on the outskirts of Newcastle. RANSOMES JACOBSEN is a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company.

The latest equipment includes a Ransomes Parkway triple mower fitted with floating head Sportcutter cylinders for maintaining the 13 football and rugby pitches on the 16 hectare site, and an Iseki TG5470 compact tractor for general grounds maintenance duties.

Grounds Supervisor John Coulthard commented, "With 16 hectares of grass to maintain we need a machine that is powerful and productive and that's what we get with the Parkway. The Sportcutter cylinders ensure that we produce playing surfaces of the quality expected at a university with our sporting tradition."

Assistant Groundsman Ian Cooper added, "We were involved in the procurement process, so we had some input into the selection of the equipment, which is good. The Iseki is a reliable 47hp compact tractor and a really straightforward machine to operate."
